Emirates Airline, renowned for its luxurious travel experience, boasts a fleet of iconic Airbus A380s. Among them, the A6-EDA holds a special place in aviation history as the first A380 for Emirates. This remarkable aircraft, bearing serial number MSN 011, embarked on a journey filled with milestones and records. Let's delve into the captivating story of A6-EDA.
Inaugural Flight and Early Operations
Emirates received the A6-EDA in July 2008, and by August of the same year, it was soaring through the skies on its maiden commercial flight. As the 11th A380 ever built, A6-EDA was a part of the pioneering fleet that transformed long-haul travel.
Over its illustrious career, A6-EDA completed 6,319 flights, whisking passengers away to 62 different destinations worldwide. To celebrate this incredible journey, Emirates has created 62 unique editions of tags, each limited to just 380 pieces, which are exclusively available at Aviationtag.

A Testament to Endurance
Clocking in an impressive 55,863 flight hours, A6-EDA served as a workhorse for Emirates, carrying a staggering 2.1 million passengers throughout its career. It frequented a variety of routes but was most often seen connecting New York's JFK Airport with Dubai.
A6-EDA had a special affinity for Sydney, Australia, with an astounding 760 landings at Sydney Airport. This marked its strong presence in one of the world's most beautiful cities.
One of its most notable achievements was a record-setting flight from Auckland to Dubai on March 17, 2017. Covering a distance of 14,200 kilometers, this ultra-long-haul journey lasted 16 hours and 39 minutes, showcasing the A380's remarkable endurance.
Oh, and did you know that Philadelphia (PHL) isn't a scheduled destination for Emirates? The landing there was purely weather-induced, making Philadelphia a part of the edition.
After its well-deserved retirement in April 2020, A6-EDA took on a new role in the world of aviation. Falcon Aircraft Recycling carefully dismantled the aircraft at Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC) in Dubai, making it only the third A380 to undergo this process. In less than five months, the aircraft transitioned froma passenger carrier to a treasure trove of aviation history.
Upcycling for the Future
While many of the aircraft's components, including metals and plastics, were returned to the recycling stream, some sections found a new purpose through upcycling.
These sections served as the foundation for the unique merchandise collection offered by Aviationtag, preserving the legacy of A6-EDA for aviation enthusiasts worldwide.
