On November 20, 2009, Air France achieved a historic milestone by introducing the Airbus A380, with
registration F-HPJA, into its fleet. This momentous occasion not only marked the airline's entry into the era of superjumbo jets but also positioned it as the first European carrier to operate this groundbreaking aircraft.
The Airbus A380, renowned for its iconic double-decker design and colossal size, is one of the most remarkable achievements in modern aviation. It boasts the capacity to carry up to 853 passengers in a two-class configuration or approximately 555 passengers in a typical three-class layout. Air France, founded in 1933, has a storied history as the flag carrier of France. With a fleet of over 200 aircraft, including a mix of wide-body and narrow-body jets, Air France has long been a key player in the global aviation industry.
The airline's dedication to providing world-class service to its passengers is evident through its extensive route network, connecting travelers to destinations across the globe
Air France's commitment to excellence extends beyond its aircraft and routes. The airline boasts a dedicated team of over 45,000 employees, including pilots, cabin crew, ground staff, and various professionals working tirelessly to ensure a seamless travel experience. Their dedication has contributed to Air France's reputation as a leader in the aviation industry.
Over the years, Air France has carried millions of passengers to destinations far and wide. The airline's A380 fleet played a
pivotal role in providing passengers with unrivaled comfort and entertainment during long-haul journeys. With spacious cabins, cutting-edge in-flight entertainment, and a focus on passenger well-being, Air France's A380s set the standard for luxurious air travel.
However, as the aviation landscape evolved, marked by shifting market dynamics and the global impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, Air France made the difficult decision to retire its A380 fleet. This decision marked the end of an era and a bittersweet farewell to these iconic aircraft, including the beloved F-HPJA.
At Aviationtag, we are honored to commemorate this aviation history with our F-HPJA Aviationtag edition. Each Aviationtag is a tangible link to the past, preserving the legacy of Air France's A380 fleet and celebrating the airline's commitment to excellence. As we proudly present our 100th edition, we invite you to join us in preserving this unique piece of aviation heritage.
Having flown on the A380 (only) twice so far, it´s sad to see them being scrapped already. But at least that way we are able to have some colored A380 Aviationtags for our collections:) And congrats for the milestone of 100 Aviationtag Editions!
Love the vibrant colours and the thickness of these anniversary tags! Makes this release really special!
It's also quite sentimental to hear about the retirement of the A380 fleet due to evolving market dynamics and the impact of the pandemic. The Aviationtag edition dedicated to F-HPJA is a wonderful way to preserve the legacy of these iconic aircraft and celebrate Air France's remarkable journey in aviation. Congrats Aviationtag with the 100th milestone!
My first ever Air France tags are due to arrive in a couple of weeks and I couldn't be more excited! Grateful to have gotten a bicolor, red, and blue. Hope to pick up a white soon to have the complete set. Though I've never flown on the Airbus A380 or with Air France, both have been on my growing aviation bucket list for some years and this release has served to only intensify those goals. Such an iconic choice for Aviationtag's 100th release…well done!
Astonishing history. Thanks, Aviationtag!
