Motor sport meets Aviation!

Discover the eventful history of the BAe 146 G-SMLA, now available as Aviationtag! The G-SMLA with the serial number MSN 2047 began its journey in 1985 when it was delivered to the Californian PSA (Pacific Southwest Airlines). After almost ten years in the USA, where it also flew for US Air, the G-SMLA returned to Europe. Here it found new assignments with Croatia Airlines, CityJet and Flightline before finally joining Jota Aviation in 2014.

As part of the Jota Group, which also includes the Jota Sport racing team, Jota Aviation specifically supported the needs of the motorsport sector. Jota Sport also competes in prestigious races such as the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the GT World Challenge Europe and the FIA World Endurance Championship. The current drivers include ex-Formula 1 driver Jenson Button.

However, Jota Aviation also had to cease its activities in 2022 and announced the end of its flight operations in April. The G-SMLA, which had been on the ground since 2020, was finally recycled in 2024 and turned into a limited edition Aviationtags in parts.

Our new Aviationtags from the G-SMLA are more than just memorabilia. They combine almost four decades of aviation history with motorsport history: from the American West Coast to Europe's airports near the race tracks. Experience a real piece of aviation that offers an impressive journey through several continents and numerous airlines - perfect for collectors and fans of motorsport alike!

The two-coloured ones are limited to one Aviationtag per household. One two-tone tag is sent out at random. 85% of the two-tone tags are orange/white, 15% are grey/white.

Note: Every tag is unique. Depending on the plane, tags may vary in terms of haptics, material thickness and colour. Small blemishes bear witness to the plane’s long history and are an authentic reminder of its glory days over the clouds. Small scratches, flaky paint and imperfections are totally normal and give our Aviationtags their unique charm – the charm of a vintage product crafted from upcycled materials. These quirks are not the result of the production process, they simply reflect the state of the aircraft material we use when it was extracted. The original aircraft paint of this edition is rather sensitive, so please take good care of your tag!

If you want to use it as a key-chain or bag-tag we strongly suggest to use the Aviationtag protective cover.
